Dec 2009 - Visit to Father Christmas at Beechenhurst - Link to Full Report
Nov 2009 - Fireworks
The fireworks party was shared with the Links Youth Fellowship Group. It started off rather damply. The fire got going, but moderate then heavy rain was preventing the fireworks from lighting, so we retired indoors to have the hot dogs, pumpkin soup, and other treats. By the time the food was finished and the Operation Mobilisation girls had given their testimonies, the rain had stopped, so the rest of the fireworks were sucessfully let off. A good end to the evening.May 2009 - Bowling
The Bowling was very close with all the children in close contention. Beatrice was leading for the most part, just to be overtaken at the end by Michael. The adults section was more mixed, but good fun was had by all. A stop at a coffee shop followed with the kids having fun playing on the urban environment!June 2008 - Sugar Loaf - Link to Report
May 2008 - Sunday Lunch
Rather than having a big effort, the mingles group took the easy option and visited Chepstow Castle Inn for a Sunday Carvery lunch. The food was very good as was the company, and we took over most of the back room for a couple of hours.January 2008 - Planning and Social
A relaxing evening to start the year, discussing the Mingles events.December 2007 - Father Christmas at Tredegar House
The weather was freezing cold, but the welcome at Tredeger House was very warm. Lots of decorations, things for the children to find, a theme of Cinderella, and finally a visit to father Christmas made the visit a big success.November 2007 - Fireworks
Forty one people this year, and the show was as good as ever, with three sparkler breaks this time! Hot dogs, pumpkin and cheese soup, as well as deserts made sure everyone was warm inside - and outside as well with the weather being very mild.October 2007 - Pudding Club
A select few managed to attend this year's pudding club, but the quality of puddings was a good as ever!June 2007 - Cycle Ride to Symonds Yat
Eighteen adults and children took part in the walk or ride to Symonds Yat. The weather for lovely, and the cream tea/ice cream at Symonds Yat very welcome. Only a couple of spills and one puncture (successfully repaired), so not too bad! All had a good time.
April 2007 - Easter Egg Hunt
In glorious sunny weather, the group visited Caldicot castle to search for easter eggs using clues provided. Each child received a reward at the end for gathering letters and making an Easter phrase.
March 2007 - Beer Tasting
Following on from 2005's wine tasting evening, this time beer was on the menu. Jeremy and Carleen has done the work and acquired a variety of beers from around the world together with explanations of the history and brewing method of the particular beers. Also a rather posh selection of nibbles was on offer (Pate, cheese, chocolate cake!) - with everyone contributing to this.
February 2007 - Youth Club Revisited
The older contingent of the Mingles group met up in the Church hall for Table tennis, table football, Snooker, and even a snack bar. Playing table tennis in a round was the highlight! The music was 1980's and the evening was finished with an epilogue by Olivia.
January 2007 - Pantomime
This year, the group visited the Monmouth Pantomime at the Savoy Theatre

December 2006 - Visit to Father Christmas at Clearwell Caves
After practising for the Church Nativity the next day, the Mingles group had a 'bring and share' lunch, then departed to Clearwell caves. The mine/cave complex was set out with lots of presents and Christmas themed displays on the way down to see Father Christmas. The children all got to see and have chat with him, before going to the elves' shop to choose a present. The displays continued on the way back up, with a Christmas market in one of the caverns, and a refreshments bar in another. Very good all in all.
November 2006 - Fireworks Party
Forty two Mingles - the biggest meeting yet, beating last year's total by two!. Lots of fireworks on the beautiful clear night, and mild weather as well. Followed by sparklers!, hot dogs, soup, and parkin.
October 2006 - Quiz Night
Once again, Jeremy and Carleen stole the show in the DVD based quiz game - it was close this time though! Alex and James from the Baptist Church also came along, but failed to beat the reigning champions!
September 2006 - Bowling
Three full bowling lanes, with ramps and side bars! Lots of fun, and followed by food at the Bowling Alley. All had a great time.
June 2006 - Barbeque
The weather was very hot, so a water slide was created in Richard and Olivia's garden - and the children had loads of fun slithering down a big groundsheet. More than 30 people attended, each contributing some food and drink, and everyone had more than enough to eat! By the end of the evening, even some of the adults were enjoying the water slide!
May 2006 - Picnic and Walk
The Mingles group and other Church members had a picnic lunch at Tregate Bridge, followed by a round walk up the hill to Maypole, then back down via the woods. Two of the boys set off well by trudging through a ditch, but all the children enjoyed the many many stiles that had to be traversed. A low hanging tree branch served as an impromptue fairground ride half way round!
March 2006 - Curry Night
A joint Mingles and birthday party for Olivia at the Indian Summer Restaurant in Monmouth. The food was excellent and at a good price.
February 2006 - Film Night
With a big screen, a choice of films, together with traditional cinema snacks, the group were treated to a highly cinematic experience by Jeremy and Carleen. It was even in colour...eventually.
January 2006 - Pantomime - Robinson Crusoe at the Dolman Theatre, Newport
A healthy turnout - and all the usual pantomime antics.
December 2005 - Christmas Mingles - Visit to Crafts near Lydney and Father Christmas
A good turnout for a visit to the model village where we had to find five letters on stars and tell the word it spelled to father Christmas. Good fun and a craft fair also.
November 2005 - Firework Party
The biggest turnout yet - 40 people at mingles. Richard and Matthew saw to the sparklers, bonfire, and fireworks. Stuffed jacket potatoes, soup, hot-dogs, and lots of nice sweet things meant everyone kept warm inside. The heavy rain held off just long enough for the fireworks - prayer does work!
October 2005 - Games
A music quiz ably won by Jeremy and Carleen followed by a riotous round of 'Pit' provided lots of fun!
September 2005 - Karoake
The first event of the Autumn was lively, with adults and children alike partaking in the Karaoke at Richard and Olivia's.
June 2005 - Weekend Away - Link to Full Report
April 2005 - Swimming
The Mingles group headed on mass to Hereford for a session in the family fun pool. After the wave machines, slides, and playground, we headed off for a pub lunch on the way home.
March 2005 - Wine Tasting
Jeremy and Carleen hosted a wine tasting evening. Formal dress was the order of the day, and a very informative evening was had.
February 2005 - Curry Night
Jenny organised a visit to an Indian Restaurant in Abergavenny. The food was very good and the prices very reasonable (even better when we paid less because of poor service) so we had a really good social time.
January 2005 - Pantomime
The Mingles group went down to Newport to see Dick Whittington. With front row seats, the shows was entertaining, and all had a good time. A visit to McDonalds rounded off the day!
December - Father Christmas at Perrigrove
Mince pies, mulled wine, a ride on a steam train whilst watching out for Jack Frost preceded the main event when Father Christmas actually did come down the chimney. Enjoyed by all.
November 2004 - Fireworks Party
A decent show of Fireworks with Chilli and Jacket Potatoes to follow. Richard had even build a bonfire!
October 2004 - Cider and Wine Tasting
The group visited Westons Cider Farm at Much Marcle. Unforunately the tours were not operating, but the display areas, playground, and shop were all available. After tasting and then stocking up on various varieties of cider, the group returned to Monmouth for a Chinese Take-Away supper.
June 2004 - Weekend Away - Link to Full Report
May 2004 - Walk
The annual mingles walk went very well with decent walking weather! After strolling around the trail at Beechenhurst and visiting some of the sculptures not seen last year, the group returned to the lodge for ice cream and some time in the adventure playground!
April 2004 - Cadburys World
Mingles visited Cadburys world in Birmingham to see the home of chocolate. The tour was very enjoyable and informative. The children enjoyed helping to make chocolates and all enjoyed eating it.
